Curate at St John’s

As Assistant Curate at St John’s, Locks Heath, I grew significantly as a leader. My key roles included:

  • Pioneering: In collaboration with my wife, Katie (a lay-pioneer in training at CMS), we launched projects such as Labyrinth (an immersive art and prayer experience), Chiminea (a back garden church), and RV (an outdoor walking church pilot).

  • Alpha Lead: I expanded our Alpha program, running three consecutive courses each year, even during the pandemic and interregnum, which helped grow the church with new believers.

  • Small Groups Coordinator: I shifted our small groups to be more outward-facing, fostering growth potential and initiating leader training in partnership with the local Baptist church.

  • Prayer Lead: I developed popular prayer-points video interviews with community leaders and ran events like Thy Kingdom Come and community prayer engagement using the church garden as a prayer space.

  • Worship Leader: I led Sunday services and preached at a 275-member evangelical church during a 3-year vacancy.

  • Administrative Leadership: I played a key role in pastoral and administrative leadership, navigating a team ministry merger with three parishes during the vacancy.
